Epiphysiodesis

Epiphysiodesis is a surgical procedure that stops growth by partially or completely removing the portion of a long leg bone in which growth occurs (epiphysis). This procedure may be used if a difference in leg lengths affects a child's activities or causes uneven wearing of a joint.
